SBL 2019 Registrations

Schererville Baseball Families:

Online registration dates have been extended through February 7th at All online registration must be paid with a credit/debit card. During online registration you will need to select pant and shirt size.

Our player fees are the same as last year. T-Ball $200, Rookie $225, Minors $255, Majors $255 and Babe Ruth $265. As in the past you will have an opportunity to earn a portion of your registration back by participating in the league fundraiser!

For any new players or just a reminder for returning players we offer 5 divisions of baseball. These divisions are based upon Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth rules of play.  Depending on the age of the player, you may be offered multiple divisions that they can play in. This allows players that may be ready for the next level to play in a more competitive division. Below is a list of all of the divisions we offer and a brief description including recommended ages.

Babe Ruth: Babe Ruth was created for ballplayers ages 13-15 who wished to continue their baseball playing experience beyond the age of 12. This is where players get their baseball cleats muddy for the first time on standard 90' diamonds under Official Baseball Rules used by Major League Baseball.

Majors: The most experienced level of Cal Ripken Baseball, recommended for 11 and 12 year old players. Cal Ripken Baseball is played under the Official Baseball Rules, but implements some special rules as necessary for the development and welfare of this young age group. Schererville Baseball follows the Major/70 division which features a 50' pitching distance and 70' base paths.

Minors: Recommended for ballplayers ages 9-10. Players build and refine their fundamental skills while beginning to understand game strategy and teamwork.

Rookie: Designed primarily for ballplayers ages 7-8, this division makes use of a pitching machine to allow for more hittable balls at the plate and more action in the field. Fear of actually being hit by a pitched ball is diminished. It makes the game safer and improves the playing confidence and ability of all participants.

T-Ball: Ballplayers ages 4-6 learn hitting and fielding fundamentals in a supportive team environment. Young athletes hit the ball from a batting tee which is height-adjusted for a level swing, batting in order through the line-up for the entire game. The primary goal is to begin to instruct young players in the fundamentals of baseball in a supportive team environment.

Schererville Baseball is an organization run on volunteer efforts. Please consider helping our league by offering to Manage/Coach a team. You can indicate interest in either of those positions during registration. We also welcome volunteers to fill vacant positions on our General Board. This is a great way to help our organization. Vacant positions will be elected at our January meeting. Please visit our website for a description of General Board positions and if interested please contact an Executive Board member. Contact information and descriptions can be found under the “SBL Board” tab.

Finally, we would like to extend warm holiday greetings to all of our baseball families and look forward to seeing you on the fields in 2019!
